Caring For your Jewelry

  • When not wearing your jewelry it should always be stored in the pouches provided to you by Whim. It is preferred to store pieces separately as stones can scratch each other. Some stones are very soft and porous i.e.: turquoise, therefore we recommend applying fragrances and hairspray before putting your jewelry on. Always remove your jewelry prior to bathing as to prevent soap build up- This will dull the color of your stones quickly.

  • Cleaning your jewelry often will continue to enhance its beauty. You can purchase a jewelry cleaning solution or mix gentle soap and water. Use a small toothbrush and gently scrub each piece. Gemstones such as diamonds, rubies, and sapphires can be cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner. You can also clean citrines, garnets, iolite, peridot, and amethyst in an ultrasonic- No pave set diamonds in Ultra Sonic Cleaner.

The following stones should only be cleaned by hand with warm water and toothbrush as they are soft, porous, and can be damaged by certain solutions:

  • Emeralds
  • Pearls
  • Turquoise
  • Coral
  • Apatite
  • Tanzanite
